Reflection
Stop motion has a lot of beauty to it, even though it can be an incredible pain in the butt. There has to be a lot of prep and planning involved, because if you miss 1 important frame, its going to be obvious and it might not be easy to go back to where you were before you missed that key frame. Something I learned in a sturdy rigging makes all the difference, as well as a vision. I wanted to approach this with more spontaneity, but the first attempt was unappealing as a painting, and it was stressful not knowing what to do next and guessing out the whole visual story as I went. So the second attempt, that became my final animation, took more thought and preconceived direction. And it worked out far better. I am disappointed however in not having the time, or at least given myself enough time, to follow through with the stop motion idea I had originally come up with, with traveling space people who find family in each other despite losing their homes / home planets. |
